Recently Ral Partha (now Ral Partha Legacy) put out a casting call for painters, artists, writers, and more to help revitalize their older ranges that have been out of print for some time - most notably, their Chaos Wars line. Any old-heads in the hobby space know of Ral Partha's history, existing for over 45 years now and producing loads of historical, fantasy, and sci-fi product. Some of their figures were amongst the first I ever painted for D&D before I was even a teen, so the opportunity to get some done up for their personal collection was really exciting.
As they arrived. |
Jacob sent me a unit of Arthurian Men-at-Arms with axes and a special character, both of which seem to be from their previous catalogs that are being pumped back into production. I can't say I'm a massive fan of 20mm and although these models definitely show their age, I did enjoy the simplicity of their sculpts. The character model especially I did enjoy painting and had some great detail.
Ral Partha asks to leave the bases black so they can do matching textures for all volunteer painted figures, turning everything into one cohesive lot. These will be receiving a varnish and are being shipped back to their forever home, but I do hope to see them being enjoyed by many on a convention demo table in the years to come.
